Ronaldinho nearing Milan exit

Ronaldinho has moved closer to joining former club Gremio as Antonio Cassano prepares to contribute to AC Milan s title challenge.

Brazilian forward Ronaldinho has left Milan s mid-season training camp in Dubai to discuss terms with Gremio, the side where he began his career in 1998.

The 30-year-old joined Milan in 2008, but has struggled to recapture the form that made him one of the world s best players during a five-year spell at Barcelona.

He will arrive in Porto Alegre today in order to negotiate with Gremio, but nothing is decided yet, his agent Roberto De Assis said.

If we don t reach an agreement with a club in Brazil, then he will return to Milan, as he is still a Milan player. We are not ruling anything out.

Burnley boost survival hopes with Brentford win as Luton snatch draw with Forest

Burnley kept their faint Premier League survival hopes alive with a 2-1 victory over Brentford at Turf Moor.

Brentford had to play most of the match with 10 men after Sergio Reguilon was sent off with just nine minutes on the clock for a push on Vitinho inside the penalty area.

Following the fastest red card of the Premier League season, Burnley took the lead from the resulting spot-kick as Jacob Bruun Larsen converted from 12 yards.

Burnley looked to have sealed their first win in 2024 and first since a 2-0 victory over Fulham in December when David Datro Fofana slotted past Mark Flekken from inside the box to make it 2-0 but they were made to sweat for the points when Kristoffer Ajer pulled a goal back in the 83rd minute with a smart header.

Torres ready for ´new adventure´ at Milan

Fernando Torres says he cannot wait to get started at Milan as he prepares to make his move to San Siro.

The Spain striker arrived in Italy on Saturday to complete the formalities of his two-year loan switch from Chelsea, with his medical due to be completed later in the day.

He joined the Stamford Bridge club in January 2011 for a then-British record £50million fee following a highly productive stint with Liverpool, but was unable to demonstrate anything close to his best form in London.

The agreement with Milan will now see him play out the remaining two years of his contract in Serie A, and Torres admits he is relishing the chance of a fresh start.

I m really happy to have arrived in Milan, he told the press on his arrival at Milan-Linate Airport.

Hiddink to quit Turkey for Chelsea

Guus Hiddink appears destined to leave Turkey in the middle of their Euro 2012 qualifying campaign, having been in charge for less than a year.

The BBC has reported that a senior source at the Turkish Football Association has admitted they are resigned to losing the 64-year-old Dutchman.

Hiddink could now open talks at English Premier League club Chelsea, with a view to him replacing Carlo Ancelotti.

Hiddink had a temporary spell in charge at Stamford Bridge in 2009 after they sacked Luis Felipe Scolari, and he led them to FA Cup glory that season.

However his commitment to coaching the Russian national team meant his tenure was only temporary.

Hiddink is known to have a strong relationship with Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich.

Everton 31/20 to win against Arsenal in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon

Competition: Premier League
Market: Everton to win against Arsenal
Odds:

Everton host Arsenal at Goodison Park on Saturday afternoon, and are hoping to pile the misery onto the Gunners to boost their own hopes of finishing in the top-half, while delivering a crushing blow to Arsenal’s fledgling title hopes.

Currently 12th in the Premier League with 38 points from 28 games, Everton haven’t had the best of campaigns under Roberto Martinez, but their recent form is much improved. The Blues have had problems on home soil, but are coming off the back of six wins from eight so they have some momentum.

Arsenal aren’t in any form ahead of their weekend clash with the Toffees, with the Gunners having lost five and drawn two of their last eight in all co…

Thierry Henry linked with France return

Catalan daily newspaper that former Arsenal icon Thierry Henry could be returning to French Ligue 1.

The 37-year-old will be leaving New York Red Bulls when the season ends in October, but he has no plans to end his career just yet.

A return to Europe appears on the cards and Sport claims that Paris Saint-Germain and Monaco lead the chase for the forward s signature.

While the Saints could stay without Edinson Cavani, their league rivals are desperate for attacking reinforcements following the departure of Radamel Falcao and they could really use a player of Henry s calibre and experience.

The Frenchman has spent last four years in the MLS, making 128 league appearances and scoring 52 goals.

He also enjoyed a short-term loan spell with Arsenal d…

Gundogan won’t sign new City deal

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has revealed that Ilkay Gundogan does not want to sign a new contract at the moment.

This situation seems to have been going on for some time, with the midfielder expressing his intention not to rush into a new deal about a month ago.

Guardiola also said that if the situation remains as it is, the 28-year-old will have to go, hinting that it might happen this summer. The Premier League champions aren t likely to allow the player to enter the last year of his contract, which expires in the summer of 2020, and potentially open the door for him to leave for free next year.

The Catalan has, however, expressed his hope that it won t come to that and Gundogan will decide to stay, but at the moment, his future at the Etihad is in g…

Valencia joins Tigres from West Ham

West Ham have confirmed that striker Enner Valencia has joined Tigres UANL for an undisclosed fee.

The 27-year-old is said to have completed a medical over the weekend after a fee reportedly between £6million and £7m was agreed between the clubs.

West Ham have now ratified the deal, allowing Valencia to head to Mexico to begin training with his new team-mates.

The Ecuador international joined the Premier League club in 2014 after impressing for Pachuca in Liga MX.

His time in England was blighted by injuries, however, and he only scored 10 times in 72 appearances for the Hammers.

Valencia was loaned to Everton last season, for whom he scored three times in 23 games.

Zinchenko: Ukraine must stop ´amazing´ Sterling

Oleksandr Zinchenko says Ukraine must find a way to stop the amazing Raheem Sterling but they should not fear facing England in a Euro 2020 quarter-final on Saturday.

Ukraine beat Sweden 2-1 after extra time at Hampden Park on Tuesday courtesy of a last-gasp winner from Artem Dovbyk.

Andriy Shevchenko s side travel to Rome to face the Three Lions at the Stadio Olimpico, with Gareth Southgate s side having beaten Germany 2-0 at Wembley.

Sterling opened the scoring for England with his third goal of the tournament before Harry Kane sealed the victory.

Zinchenko, who was on target in the win over Sweden, knows Ukraine will have to keep a close eye on his Manchester City team-mate in the Eternal City.

Raheem Sterling is one of the best wingers in the…

Rodrygo: I don´t want to be the new Neymar

I always said that I wanted to be Rodrygo and make my story, Robinho and Neymar are great idols of Santos and of all the places where they played. I m just starting out and I think there is only one Neymar.

I always had that weight over me, but I just want to be Rodrygo.

Rodrygo – who has three international appearances to his name – came off the bench in Brazil s 5-0 rout of Bolivia in Sao Paulo on Friday.

He has made two LaLiga appearances for Madrid in 2020-21, having played 19 matches last term and 26 across all competitions.

I think it is very important to have a good level, we all know that we have excellent players in my position, Rodrygo said. It is very important that when it is my turn to play I do well and do what Tite asks of me in tra…
