Fellaini shuns latest Manchester United contract offer

Manchester United remain keen on retaining Marouane Fellaini’s services despite him rejecting their latest contract offer, according to the Mail Online.

The Red Devils placed a new £120,000-per-week deal on the table only for the Belgium international to turn it down, putting his future at the club even further in doubt.

The twenty-nine year old will be able to negotiate with foreign teams come January and could end up leaving on a free transfer at the end of the campaign.

Fellaini followed former Manchester United manager David Moyes to Old Trafford from Everton in 2013 and has since racked up almost one hundred and fifty appearances having featured regularly under his last three managers.

Luton Town 0-3 Manchester United: Henderson makes brilliant late save in EFL Cup win

Dean Henderson strengthened his case to be Manchester United s number one with a brilliant save late on as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer s disjointed side beat Luton Town 3-0 in the EFL Cup.

United suffered a 3-1 home loss to Crystal Palace in their first Premier League game on Saturday and Solskjaer made 10 changes for the third-round tie at Kenilworth Road, including handing a debut to goalkeeper Henderson as David de Gea was given the night off.

A Juan Mata penalty on the stroke of half-time gave United the lead against their Championship hosts, who would have levelled with nine minutes remaining had Henderson s one-handed stop not denied Tom Lockyer.

By that point a concerned Solskjaer had called for the cavalry and substitutes Marcus Rashford and Mason Greenwood bot…

Heynckes reaches record 500th Bundesliga win

Jupp Heynckes became the first person to win 500 matches in the Bundesliga as a player and a coach on Saturday, as Bayern Munich breezed past Augsburg.

Robert Lewandowski scored twice after Arturo Vidal broke the deadlock in the first half, ensuring the champions moved six points clear at the top of the table, with second-place RB Leipzig drawing 2-2 with Bayer Leverkusen.

It was a particularly special win for Heynckes, who reached a half-century of wins in Germany s top flight from 1016 games, with 326 coming as a manager after 174 in his playing career.

The 72-year-old, who replaced the sacked Carlo Ancelotti in September, is bidding to win his fourth Bundesliga title as Bayern boss this season, having previously guided them to glory in 1988-89, 1989-90 and 201…

PSG throwing everything at Mbappe stay

According to a recent report from Le Parisien, Paris Saint-Germain are willing to offer Kylian Mbappe big money to stay.

That big money would include a signing on bonus in excess of €100 million, with the hope being that he will turn down the proposed move to Real Madrid that has seemingly been in the works for years now.

Alas, while PSG are working hard to make it happen, the striker’s ties to Madrid “remain strong” which could mean it doesn’t matter how much the French champions offer him, because he s going to stay regardless.

Mbappe has already done some great things during his time in the beautiful game but after PSG failed in their attempt to win the Champions League back in 2020, he may be starting to believe that if he wants to achieve European…

Guardiola and Nagelsmann ´95 per cent the same´ – Angelino

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola and RB Leipzig coach Julian Nagelsmann are 95 per cent the same but Angelino only felt trusted by one of them.

Angelino joined Leipzig on loan last January, having failed to get regular football under Guardiola after City exercised a buy-back clause in his contract with PSV in July 2019.

At the Red Bull Arena the Spanish left-back has scored four goals and supplied two assists in the Bundesliga, while only four defenders that have played at least 10 times can better his average of 1.8 chances created per 90 minutes.

Angelino was also an important factor in Leipzig s surprise run to the Champions League semi-finals last season and returned to the club on loan for the 2020-21 campaign with an option to buy.

Mancini reveals Jorginho´s Italy camp exit was a favour to Chelsea ahead of Turkey dead rubber

Roberto Mancini has revealed the decision to release several senior Italy faces such as Jorginho is to help repay the efforts made between club and country.

The Chelsea midfielder, along with a clutch of other key players such as Marco Verratti, Ciro Immobile and Lorenzo Insigne, have left the Azzurri camp ahead of Tuesday s clash with Turkey.

Defeat against North Macedonia last week left the Euro 2020 hopes of reaching Qatar 2022 in tatters, ensuring they will miss a second successive World Cup.

With that in mind, Mancini looks set to field a more experimental side for a dead rubber against Turkey, who were also eliminated from the play-offs.

Speaking ahead of the match at Torku Arena, Mancini explained that it was on his orders that Jorginho and…

Inter v Palermo: Pressure on Mancini building

Inter coach Roberto Mancini may not have been in the job long, but he can already feel the pressure ahead of a crucial clash with Palermo.

The pressure on Roberto Mancini will only grow if out-of-form Inter fail to beat Palermo at San Siro on Sunday.

Mancini, who only replaced Walter Mazzarri at Inter in November, has now overseen three successive defeats in all competitions.

Things looked to be on the up at Inter after the acquisitions of Xherdan Shaqiri and Lukas Podolski in the January transfer window but league defeats to Torino and Sassuolo have led to questions about Mancini s suitability.

Inter now sit 13th in the Serie A table, already 13 points off an unlikely UEFA Champions League berth, and a whopping 24 behind three-time defending champions, …

Kane calls for calm but accepts England not good enough

Harry Kane called for some perspective following England s 1-1 Euro 2024 draw against Denmark but accepts his side were not good enough.

England failed to build on a 1-0 win over Serbia in their Group C opener as they saw Kane s opener cancelled out by Morten Hjulmand in Thursday s match in Frankfurt.

Gareth Southgate s side once again failed to push on after taking the lead in a game and supporters made their frustrations known.

The draw means England have still yet to ever win their first two matches at a European Championship, with their place in the last 16 not yet certain.

And Kane the third man to score at four different major tournaments for England along with Michael Owen and Wayne Rooney admits an improvement is needed.

Eredivisie Preview: Top two face tests on Friesland derby weekend

Leaders PSV and second-placed Ajax face stern tests of their title credentials against a pair of former champions this weekend.

The Amsterdam giants travel to Twente, who pipped them to glory in 2009-10, while the Eindhoven heavyweights host AZ.

Since a 3-0 loss to Ajax in March, Twente have gone 16 matches unbeaten in all competitions. However, five draws from eight games ensures they only sit fifth in the Eredivisie, two points behind this weekend s opponents.

Ajax have not last in nine league meetings with Twente, who will charge Luc Castaignos with arresting that sequence. The 22-year-old former Inter striker has netted six times in his last five appearances in all competitions, to reportedly attract interest from abroad.

Frank de Boer will hope power…
